A Tribute To The Ramones :: We're A Happy Family (2003)

It was inevitable that a glut of Ramones tribute albums would follow the passing of Joey and Dee Dee Ramone. The 17-song-strong We're a Happy Family thankfully escapes the dubious tribute-album ghetto. It's no surprise that Ramones descendents like Green Day, Rancid, and the Offspring stick close to the tired and true, while headbanger James Hetfield makes "53rd & 3rd" sound like a Metallica song. But the standouts on the disc are the efforts where artists go off the rails. Pete Yorn turns in a yearning version of "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," while Tom Waits goes the ghoulish route on "The Return of Jackie and Judy." Kiss get the best-in-show nod for their anthemic "Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio," which is odd given that the Ramones were formed ostensibly as a reaction against arena rockers like Kiss. Don't miss the final hidden track, a scary gem by the Chili Peppers' John Frusciante.

Daniel Cavanagh es un guitarrista y vocalista británico nacido el 6 de Octubre de 1972. En 1990, junto a sus hermanos Vincent y Jamie, forma la impecable banda Anathema.

En diciembre de 2004 edita como solista un tributo a Nick Drake titulado A Place To Be. En este disco Cavanagh captura con su voz y su guitarra acústica toda la melancolía de este artista fallecido prematuramente cuya bella música tuvo un reconocimiento póstumo. Éste álbum es sin dudas un intenso y delicado homenaje a su música.

Ambos son bastante criticados por los fans de Maiden, sin embargo muchos rescatan las versiones de Steel Prophet, Solitude Æturnus y Opeth, mientras que las versiones de Morgion y Opera IX son consideradas absolutos desastres.

Made In Tribute - A Tribute To The Best Band In A Whole Goddamn World! (1997)

El presente tributo a Iron Maiden tiene doble mérito: Haber sido el primero de todos, y que su arte de tapa haya sido realizado por el propio Derek Riggs.
Originalmente, fue editado en Japón por el sello Toy's Factory en 1997. Presenta versiones extermas de diversos clásicos del grupo, realizadas por bandas europeas. Se destacan las versiones de In Flames, Arch Enemy y Dark Tranquillity, al menos son las que más le gustaron a los fans de la doncella.
