Patti Smith :: Horses (1975)

Patti Smith es una cantante y compositora norteamericana, nacida el 30 de diciembre de 1946 en Chicago, Illinois. Saltó a la fama durante el movimiento punk, en el año 1975, con su album debut Horses. Fue llamada la "poetiza laureada del punk rock" y se convirtió en una de las artistas más influyentes de la música. Ferviente admiradora del poeta francés Arthur Rimbaud, aportó a la música punk su punto de vista feminista e intelectual.
El album Horses fusiona rock and roll, proto-punk rock y poesía hablada, y es considerado como uno de los mejores albums debut de la historia del rock. Su austera portada, con una fotografía realizada por Robert Mapplethorpe, es también un ícono del rock.

El disco comienza con un cover de Van Morrisson, Gloria, y las palabras introductorias de Patti Smith son de las más famosas de la historia del rock: "Jesus died for somebody's sins... but not mine". Sin dudas es toda una leyenda, y a 224 kbps. ;)

A Tribute To The Ramones :: We're A Happy Family (2003)

It was inevitable that a glut of Ramones tribute albums would follow the passing of Joey and Dee Dee Ramone. The 17-song-strong We're a Happy Family thankfully escapes the dubious tribute-album ghetto. It's no surprise that Ramones descendents like Green Day, Rancid, and the Offspring stick close to the tired and true, while headbanger James Hetfield makes "53rd & 3rd" sound like a Metallica song. But the standouts on the disc are the efforts where artists go off the rails. Pete Yorn turns in a yearning version of "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," while Tom Waits goes the ghoulish route on "The Return of Jackie and Judy." Kiss get the best-in-show nod for their anthemic "Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio," which is odd given that the Ramones were formed ostensibly as a reaction against arena rockers like Kiss. Don't miss the final hidden track, a scary gem by the Chili Peppers' John Frusciante.

Pues aqui os presento este cd de una de mis debilidades, el bajista nikki sixx!! es del 2004 y fie un intento de all star band... en el hacen un punk rock realmente energetico rapido, sucio recuendan a los grandes del punk, misfist, ramones... aunque bordean a veces peligrosamente el punk-pop ( y no dare nombres...) pero el cd es meritorio y merece la escucha!

Devin Townsend - Punky Brüster :: Cooked On Phonics (1996)

Punky Brüster es una parodia de banda de punk rock formada por Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad) y Adrian White con la colaboración de otros integrantes de sus proyectos. Su único album Cooked On Phonics es conceptual y su historia critica con grandes dosis de humor a las bandas que cambian radicalmente su estilo y sonido para adaptarse al "mainstream" y hacer dinero. En este caso los músicos de la banda de death metal ficticia Cryptic Coroner se ven obligados a convertirse en punk rockers, y se transforman también en los "niños mimados" de la industria.
