Morbid Angel es una banda fundamental del género death metal. Se formó en 1983 en Florida, Estados Unidos. Sus canciones tienen arreglos complejos, y se caracterízan por la considerable técnica de guitarra de Trey Azagthoth y de batería de Pete Sandoval.
Altars Of Madness, su album debut, fue editado el 12 de mayo de 1989 por Earache Records. Fue producido por por Dig Pearson, y es una piedra fundamental del género.
