Astarte :: Dancing In The Dark Lakes Of Evil (EP s/d)

Astarte es un Black Metal pagano desde Grecia, país de los polémicos Rotting Christ. Con 10 años de trayectoria, esta es una superbanda del Black Metal europeo que liderada en principio por 3 bellas mujeres, ha pasado por cambios sucesivos hasta llegar a la actual formación compuesta por: Tristessa (voz y bajo), Derketa (Sintetizadores), Hybris (responsable de las líricas), Ice (batería) y Lycon (guitarra). Sonidos extremos, desenfrenados y basamento en el ocultismo es lo que destaca a esta banda que puede hacerle la pelea a cualquier grupo escandinavo del mismo estílo, pero que además posee el carisma y la belleza de su lider Tristessa, versión griega de la insuperable Angela Gossow de Arch Enemy, otra chica con aspecto angelical pero con actitud y voz de demonio…

Fundada em 1995, sob o nome LLOTH, Astarte vem sendo considerada como a primeira banda de Black Metal feminina (apesar de contar com um homem anônimo na bateria). Atualmente, formada por Tristessa (Bass, Vocals, Lead/Acoustic Guitars), Katharsis (Keyboards, Special effects) e Hybris (Guitar), a banda grega segue o tradicional black metal - na trilha de bandas norueguesas mais antigas - com vários momentos sinfônicos ou épicos. (Perdoe-me pelo texto em português, eu só sei escrever em português ou inglês, mas vou tentar pesquisar em espanhol pra colar aqui as informações dos futuros posts)

Diamanda Galas :: The Litanies of Satan (1982)

If you are not familiar with Diamanda Galas' extraordinary vocal capabiities, this is the disc to introduce you to them. These 2 recordings, LITANIES OF SATAN and WILD WOMEN WITH STEAK KNIVES, were recorded in the early 80s in London. The background story behind the production of WWWSK is particularly interesting. Seek out a copy of Forced Exposure magazine from 1989. Diamanda's interview will give you so much insight into her creative processes. She talks about literally being awake for more than 24 hours, fueled by caffeine among other things, and laboring through the recording process for WWWSK with producer Dave Hunt in a freezing London basement. Sound boards crashing, microphones blowing out, and numerous re-takes are all in a normal day's "work" for Miss Galas. Best of all her sense of humor really comes through in her interviews. WWWSK is an aural "exploration" for lack of a better word, of a woman in the throes of schizophrenia. Mixing glossolalia, reverb, spatial delay, signal processing, and multi-tracking, Galas brings out the many complex layers of this woman's psyche. There is much terror and humor in her "words", sometimes the two emotions colliding in the same sound-space. You will understand what I mean only upon hearing it numerous times. Each listening brings a new experience to the listener. What is so amazing to me is that I have been playing this for more than 11 years, and it still sounds and is BEYOND the avant-garde in music. To call her art "music" is in many ways a disservice. What Galas does is so much more. Her compositions take the listener into places of the human experience most of us will never know. It is her unique ability to communicate psychological, emotional and psychical states of consciousness with such force and clarity that keeps her from being merely 'categorized' for the comfort of art and music critics alike. She will continue to drag the art, music and social critics kicking and screaming into the future that is her particular style of Expressionism."O, Satan, prends pitie de ma longue misere..."

Ion es el proyecto de el ex-Anathema, Duncan Patterson, luego de abandonar Antimatter. Madre, Protégenos fue su prometedor álbum debut, en el que se encuentran involucrados artistas rusos, italianos, irlandeses, mexicanos, australianos, griegos, argentinos y norteamericanos. El resultado es ecléctico y etéreo, introspectivo y minimalista, de gran belleza y sugerente expresividad. Es un disco lleno de poesía, de atmósferas melancólicas e intimistas. Fue compuesto y arreglado por Duncan Patterson, y fue editado en su edición digipack el 27 de Noviembre de 2006, bajo el sello Equilibrium Music.

Septicflesh :: Communion (2008)

Grecia | 2008 | Death/Atmospheric Metal

Septic Flesh (llamada hoy en día Septicflesh sin motivos aparentes) es una banda griega formada en 1990, que se separó en el 2003 y volvió al ruedo a finales del 2007, con un nuevo (y excelente) trabajo bajo el brazo.

Su particular estilo combina de gran manera la dureza del Death Metal con las oscuras sinfonías y melodías del Atmospheric Metal, haciendo que por momentos hace que se nos ponga la "piel de gallina".

Comunnion es su sexto álbum de estudio editado en Abril del 2008. Fue grabado en conjunto con la orquesta filarmónica de Praga, quien aportó para este proyecto 80 músicos y un coro de 32 personas, logrando de esta manera un sonido mucho más épico.

Emerald Sun :: Escape from twilight (2007)

El album mas reciente que con canciones como 'Scream out loud', 'High in the sky' y 'Sword of light' nos puede hacer recordar a bandas como Helloween, Stratovarius y Rhapsody, sin embargo es dificil eludir la fascinacion de su música y de letras epicas, por mucho una de las mejores bandas de su país.
