Persefone es una banda de progressive death metal originaria de Andorra. Fue formada en 2001 por Carlos Lozano, Jordi Gorgues, Toni Mestre y Xavi Perez. Comenzaron tocando covers de bandas como Arch Enemy, Dissection, In Flames y varias otras, pero pronto sintieron la necesidad de ir más lejos. Fue así que unos meses después integraron a Miguel Espinosa a ejecutar los teclados. Con esa integración comenzaron a trabajar y compusieron la primera canción de Persefone: "Niflheim (the eyes that hold the edge)". Era la primera idea de como serían las composiciones de la banda: Melodía, complejidad y agresividad.
Su album debut es Truth Inside The Shades, editado en 2004, grabado en Orion Studios por Aleix Dorca.
