Amon Amarth fue formada en 1992 en Tumba, Suecia. Su nombre significa "Monte del Destino" en Sindarin (una de las lenguas de la Tierra Media creada por J.R.R. Tolkien). La temática de sus canciones está basada fielmente en la mitología nórdica.
El álbum With Oden On Our Side es el sexto de su discografía. Fue grabado entre mayo y junio de 2006 en Fascination Street Studios, y editado bajo el sello Metal Blade el 22 de setiembre del mismo año. Fue producido por Jens Bogren.
